Portio Mea

PORTIO MEA
Friday Vespers, Antiphon 1

You are my portion, O Lord,     in  the  land  of  the  living

Friday Vespers, Antiphon 1, Psalm 141 Voce mea ad Dominum
[Benedictine] Antiphonale Monasticum, (Desclée, 1934)

VOCE mea ad Dóminum clavi  *
voce mea ad Dóminum depretus sum.

Effundo in conspéctu eius deprecatiónem meam  *
tribulatiónem meam ante ipsum pronúnti–o.

In deficiéndo ex me spíritum meum  *
et tu cognovísti sémitas meas.

In via hac qua ambubam  *
abscondérunt láqueum mihi.

(ANTIPHON) Portio Mea Domine ...

2 With all my voice I cry to the Lord,
with all my voice I entreat the Lord.

3 I pour out my trouble before him;
I tell him all my distress

4 while my spirit faints within me.
But you, O Lord, know my path.

On the way where I shall walk
they have hidden a snare to entrap me.

(ANTIPHON) Portio Mea Domine ...

Considerábam ad déxteram et vibam  *
et non erat qui cognósceret me.

Périit fuga a me  *
et non est qui requírit ánimam meam.

Clamávi ad te Dómine dixi : Tu es spes me–a  *
pórtio mea in terra vivéntium.

Inténde ad deprecatiónem meam  *
quia humiliátus sum nimis.

(ANTIPHON) Portio Mea Domine ...

5 Look on my right and see:
there is no one who takes my part.

I have no means of escape,
not one who cares for my soul.

 6 I cry to you, O Lord.
I have said: "You are my refuge
all I have in the land of the living.
"

7 Listen, then, to my cry
for I am in the depths of distress.

(ANTIPHON) Portio Mea Domine ...

Líbera me a persequéntibus me  * quia confortáti sunt super me.

Educ de custódia ánimam meam ad confiténdum nómini tu–o  *
me exspéctant iusti donec retríbuas mihi.

Glória Patri et –li–o  *
et Spirítu–i Sancto.

Sicut erat in princípio et nunc et semper  *
et in sǽcula sæcurum.
A–men.

(ANTIPHON) Portio Mea Domine ...

Rescue me from those who pursue me
for they are stronger than I.

8 Bring my soul out of this prison
and then I shall praise your name.

Around me the just will assemble
because of your goodness to me.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit

As it was in the beginning is now and always
world without end, Amen

(ANTIPHON) Portio Mea Domine ...
